How do I choose a therapist?
I encourage you to trust your self, your intuition, your gut. You have your own way of deciding. I think that, in addition to feeling comfortable with your therapist, like having shared religious or political beliefs, a therapist's theoretical orientation matters. I use attachment science, non-judgmental compassion, and a humanistic belief in each person's ability to find health and happiness. Personally, I am a progressive, intersectional sex-positive feminist, dedicated to social justice and consent culture.
Do you have daytime/evening/weekend appointments?
Yes, I have afternoon and evening session times on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays, starting as late as 7:00 pm. I do not work on weekends.
How long do therapy sessions last?
Standard sessions are 50 minutes. Some clients prefer longer 80 minute sessions, especially when doing EMDR.
How often will I see you?
We will have a weekly regularly scheduled appointment reserved for you. If you want to change your session time,
please let me know.
How much do sessions cost?
Standard 50 minute sessions are $195. The rate is $300 for extended 80 minute sessions.
Are sessions covered by my insurance?
Many of my clients find that they appreciate the increased privacy and control over how we work together when paying privately. To know your options, please contact your insurance directly to ask about your specific deductible and what percentage of the cost they will reimburse. This can make therapy more affordable for many people.
Do you have a sliding scale?
Yes. As a licensed clinical social worker, it is part of my ethics to provide a sliding scale to make therapy more accessible. I reserve a portion of my practice for sliding scale based on need. Currently, these sessions are full.
Do you provide online/video therapy/teletherapy?
Yes. For the time being, all of my sessions are online. I have a HIPAA-compliant (confidential to legal standards) video platform that we will use to meet. It is like Zoom or Skype, but confidential.
Do you offer therapy to people outside the San Francisco Bay Area?
Yes. As long as you are a resident of California, where I hold my psychotherapeutic license, we can work together via confidential online/video/teletherapy sessions.
